All-CCC Catcher Brittany Robles
EUGENE, Ore. – Three Northwest Christian University softball players were honored by the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Wednesday, two as All-Conference selections and one as a Gold Glove winner. Additionally, NCU earned the Team Champions of Character Award, presented to the team that best exemplified the NAIA’s five core values: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
Head Coach Tim Hood said, “This award is a real honor. It’s a testament to the way our girls played together all season. They fought through adversity and continued to improve all year. They showed class and dignity on the field and it’s wonderful that the other coaches in our conference took notice of that.”
Three players were also recognized for their individual efforts. Both
Brooke Davis (pictured, top) and
Brittany Robles earned All-Conference honors. Davis set a school record with eight home runs this season, ranking fifth in the conference. The freshman was also fourth in the CCC for ERA and fifth for strikeouts. Robles finished the season fourth in the conference with a batting average of .384 which set a new single-season record for the Beacons.
The Beacons were also honored with one Gold Glove Award, which went to freshman
Megan Mazanec at third base. Mazanec had a fielding percentage of .990, fourth highest of any player in the conference. She committed just one error at the hot corner all season.
