Jonathan Rea Announces Resignation
Coach Jonathan Rea
EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian University women’s soccer coach Jonathan Rea has tenured his resignation. Rea will be pursuing a new full-time career opportunity that will involve travel and will not allow for the flexibility to also coach part-time.

Coach Rea said, “Those who know me well understand that I really valued my military career and experiences; this new position will allow me to once again be intimately involved with the service. It is an opportunity that I am very excited about! That being said, I have a heavy heart, because I will be leaving my players and coaching staff that it has been my privilege to be associated with, not to mention the NCU students, faculty, staff and administration. I will truly miss the relationships I forged here at Northwest Christian.”

Rea, who had been an assistant coach with the women’s soccer team since the program’s inception in 2006, was named Head Coach in January of 2009. Under his leadership, the women’s soccer program had the best Cascade Conference winning percentage in school history.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “Jonathan has had a huge impact on our women’s soccer program, athletic department and university. His positive outlook on life and his grounded faith commitment have truly been a blessing to our student-athletes, coaches and all that he touched on campus. We will all miss Coach “Jay Rea” a great deal and wish him the best in his future.”

“I have gained so much from my four years at NCU,” said Rea, “and I appreciate all the support and family atmosphere here. I believe the team is so close to turning the corner as far as success in the win-loss column and I am excited to follow their progress. The returning players are incredible young women, and whoever gets the chance to coach them will be blessed.”

Rea will continue fulfilling head coaching duties until his successor has been named. A search will begin immediately to fill the coaching vacancy. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Athletic Director Corey Anderson at canderson@northwestchristian.edu or 541-684-7345.
