EUGENE, Ore. – Two Northwest Christian University men’s basketball players and three women’s players were named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar Athletes, as announced by the NAIA offices this week.
In order to earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors a student-athlete must be a junior or senior and needs to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA.
A second-time honoree is senior
Erik Quick-Warner (Marist HS), an accounting major. Junior
Brent McKee (Sheldon HS), also majoring in accounting, was selected for his first Scholar Athlete award.
For the women, senior
Jenneca Crocker, a teacher education major, earned her second award. First-time honors went to junior
Katey Monteith (accounting) and
Amanda Zempel (exercise science), who has played just two seasons with the Beacons but is a junior academically, on pace to graduate early.
Athletic Director and men’s basketball Head Coach Corey Anderson said, “All five of these young ladies and men serve as great academic role models for our entire athletic program. Their basketball success is a direct reflection of their academic success. They are true student-athletes.”
