Northwest Christian University Athletics was honored in 2009-2010 to have three of their teams selected by the Cascade Collegiate Conference as the CCC Champions of Character Team. For the Beacons, there could be no higher honor than to be recognized by the coaches of fellow conference schools for their dedication to play with sportsmanship and respect.
Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, "It makes me very proud of our department to have three teams recognized for the character that they strive to embody. Our basketball and softball programs are blessed to have the coaching staff and student-athlete leadership that are being recognized for this award.”
The Beacons have been strong supporters of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative since joining the NAIA in 2007. Focusing on the five core values of the NAIA (respect, integrity, servant leadership, sportsmanship and responsibility), NCU athletics hold in high regard the ability to not just play to win, but to play in a manner worthy of the name of Northwest Christian University.
