Top Moments of 2009-2010 #3: Beacons Claim First Ever NAIA Appearance

Editor’s Note: This is the eighth in a 10-part series recapping the Top Ten sports moments of the 2009-2010 year at Northwest Christian University as compiled by the Beacon Athletic Department. A watershed moment for Beacon athletics occured on November 21st when junior Sam Robison and sophomore Stephanie Hescock became NCU's first ever participants in an NAIA National Championship event, running in the cross country races. Sixth months later, senior Bethany Howard and sophomore Brittany Arch added their names to the list at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
November 21, 2009 - Hescock Completes Impressive Season at NAIA
Stephanie Hescock took 147th place overall with a time of 20:13 on an extremely muddy Fort Vancouver course in Vancouver, Washington. She was 14th among athletes from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
November 21, 2009 - Robison Breaks Into Top 100
Sam Robison took 89th place overall with a time of 26:28. He was also 14th among athletes from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
May 27, 2010 - Arch, Howard Set for NAIA Debut
June 1, 2010 - Arch Takes 14th in 5,000m Finals
Sophomore Brittany Arch can now claim to be the 14th fastest 5k runner in the nation in the NAIA, after taking a 14th-place finish in the 5000m finals at the national championships on Saturday.
